Terminus (terminal station)

In a terminus all tracks end at buffer stops — trains run in forwards and leave backwards (or with the locomotive run round). Prototypes: Frankfurt, Leipzig, Munich, London St Pancras. On a model railway the terminus is attractive for shunting, but needs a generous ladder of turnouts in its throat.
