Wooden train track layouts: ideas for track compatible with BRIO®

Starter ideas to copy and a layout planner in the browser: lay the track on a tablet, look at it in 3D and see in the parts list which wooden track pieces you need.

Wooden train track ideas

The app comes with starter ideas in the common size of wooden railways, from a circle and a figure eight to an oval with a station. Two of them are shown below. They fit the usual wooden track, BRIO® included. Start with one of them and change it until it matches the pieces in your box.

BRIO® track layouts, planned on screen

In the Trackplanner Kids planner you lay one piece after the other. Pegs and holes snap together on their own, just like the real track. The parts list counts how many straights, curves and turnouts the layout needs.

Which wooden track fits together?

The standard wooden railway library follows the common size of wooden railways. BRIO® track has a library of its own with the pack numbers. The table below shows what can be connected.
