Motor under scenery

Work in progress: This section is still a work in progress — content is being added and revised continuously.

What is checked? Whether the footprint of a side-mounted turnout motor lies under a building, platform or other scenery item with a solid body. Flat surfaces, roads and structures above the track such as bridges, tunnel portals, signal gantries or platform canopies do not count: there is room under them.

Why does it matter? A platform right at the turnout or a signal box next to it often stands on the plan exactly where the motor sits. On the layout, one of the two then does not fit.

How to fix it: Move the scenery item. If the motor allows both sides and the other side is free, the quick fix moves it to the other side of the turnout.

Numbers & defaults: only scenery in the same group whose body lies at the height of the motor counts; a building on the upper level above a staging yard does not hit its motors. Scenery without its own footprint counts with the placeholder area, as in “Scenery off the board”; scenery of an unknown type does not count. The rule reports a warning, not an error, because some scenery is hollow or can be adapted. The check is part of the Premium analysis.
