Motor over the board edge

Work in progress: This section is still a work in progress — content is being added and revised continuously.

What is checked? Whether the footprint of a side-mounted turnout motor sticks out over the edge of the baseboard or into an opening in the board. The corners, the edge midpoints and the centre of the motor are checked, as in “Scenery off the board”.

Why does it matter? A turnout close to the edge often still fits on the board, but its motor beside it does not. It then hangs in the air or hits the wall.

How to fix it: Move the turnout further in. If the motor allows both sides and the other side is free, the quick fix moves it to the other side of the turnout.

Numbers & defaults: without a baseboard there is no insight. Motors without known dimensions are not checked. The check is part of the Premium analysis.
