Analogue and digital control (DC, DCC)

Under analogue control the track voltage controls all locomotives in a circuit together; several trains require separate electrical sections. Under digital control (e.g. DCC, Märklin mfx) each locomotive carries a decoder and is addressed individually — several trains run independently on the same track. Little changes for the track plan, a lot for the wiring.
