Runaround track
A runaround track lets the locomotive run around its own train and move to the other end — essential at a terminus and for shunting. The loco uncouples, passes the cars on the parallel track (the runaround) and couples up again at the far end. It can then pull the train in the opposite direction without being turned. The Trackplanner’s operations check verifies whether a station has a runaround for the loco.
