Roadbed (ballasted track)

The roadbed is the ballast bed beneath the track. Roadbed track systems (e.g. Märklin C track, Roco geoLine, Kato Unitrack) come with a moulded plastic roadbed attached — convenient for carpet or tabletop use. Track without roadbed is ballasted by hand on the finished layout.
